When God Differs His Blessings

God is not his blessings, at least. When those people who has extra cars, extra houses and extra wealth say that they have God with them, they are confusing God with his blessings. His rain come up on the Good and bad, His sun rises for greedy and detached. Often, blessing is the way God takes leave of somebody. He blesses certain people abundantly so that he can take leave of him. The God who blesses some people and curse others is a religious God, not the God of pure being. God doesn’t know curses. In the same way God doesn’t know the non-repentant sinner. You are in hell when God doesn’t know you. There are no curses but only misfortunes. One’s fortunes and misfortunes are not determined by God but by world. World is a blessing of God but not God. God can be cloudy in blessings but in misfortunes he may let out, because nobody is as misfortunate as God. Paul Ricoeur says that a Prophet is the one who inherits misfortunes. It is equal to say he has inherited God.
A misfortune with God is better than a Godless blessing. Blessings can be real curses when they make us to forget God. All the more we have to forsake His blessings to have Him. It is difficult to have God and his blessings at the same time. So “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven”(Mt.19:23).
God doesn’t like to be revealed. His desire is to be hidden. He gives His blessings to confuse us and we will not search for him any further. Jesus knew it well, so he asked us to abandon everything so that we may have God. Thus, If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it”(Mt.10:39). According to Jesus abandon is the only way to possess. Your real blessing is not what you have but what you have abandoned. Saint Francis pitched his tent in this vacuum. So he believed that God alone is necessary and the rest can be abandoned.
You must know the pain of loosing. But what about the pain of loosing God? You must also know the unfathomable pain of loosing God. It is not your believe that God is with you that saves you. But the believe that God has forsaken you!
God finds you in the moment you know that you are forsaken by Him. There is no resurrection unless you cry, “My God, My God why have you forsken me”.
